GCAPS was developed to address the need for increased civic involvement and awareness among the state's youth and engage them to become the next generation of civic leaders. The program is dedicated to educating young citizens about the opportunities in the public sector. GCAPS provides civic education by exposing youth to the role of the local government and by introducing them to the leaders who make the local government work.
Students in the Youth Commission get to learn first-hand the roles and services that Peach County Government provides. Throughout the course of the year, students will take part in team-building exercises, attend Board of Commissioners meetings, tour county facilities, visit the State Capitol and interact with local and state leaders.
