NOTICE OF PROPERTY TAX INCREASE

The Peach County Board of Commissioners has tentatively adopted a millage rate which will require an increase in property taxes by 7.38%.

All concerned citizens are invited to attend the first of three required public hearings on this tax increase to be held at the Office of the Peach County Board of Commissioners, 213 Persons Street, Fort Valley, Georgia, at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, August 14, 2014

The required second public hearing will be held at 6:00 p.m., Thursday, August 14, 2014, at the Byron Welcome Center, Peach Shops Outlet, 311 Highway 49 North, Suite 230, Byron, Georgia.

The time and place of the required third public hearing on this proposed tax increase will be held at the Office of the Peach County Board of Commissioners, 213 Persons Street, Fort Valley, Georgia, at 6:00 p.m., Friday, August 22, 2014

This tentative increase will result in a maximum millage rate of 14.555 mills, an increase of up to 1.0 mill.  Without this tentative tax increase, the millage rate will be no more than 13.555 mills.  The proposed tax increase for a home with a fair market value of $100,000 is approximately $38.00, and the proposed tax increase for non-homestead property with a fair market value of $75,000 is approximately $30.00.

In addition, the Peach County Board of Commissioners has scheduled a Called Meeting for 11:00 a.m., Thursday, August 28, 2014, at the Office of the Board of Commissioners, 213 Persons Street, Fort Valley, Georgia, to adopt the final millage rate to be applied to the 2014 Peach County Tax Digest and to approve the FY2015 General Fund and Special Revenue Budgets for Peach County. 

In addition, the Peach County Board of Commissioners has scheduled a Called Meeting for 11:00 a.m., Thursday, August 28, 2014, at the Office of the Board of Commissioners, 213 Persons Street, Fort Valley, Georgia, to adopt the final millage rate to be applied to the 2014 Peach County Tax Digest and to approve the FY2015 General Fund and Special Revenue Budgets for Peach County.
